Frequently asked questions about water treatment in the East Valley
What is home water treatment?
Home water treatment covers equipment installed in a home to soften water, filter water for the whole home, or purify drinking water at one tap. Common system types in this guide are water softeners, whole-home filtration, reverse osmosis systems, UV systems, combo systems and salt-free conditioners. Companies describe their own systems in their own words; ask which type your quote covers.
What is the difference between a softener, a filter and a reverse osmosis system?
A softener treats hardness in the water supply. A whole-home filter treats water at the point where it enters the home. A reverse osmosis system typically treats drinking water at one tap, such as a kitchen sink, with a dedicated faucet. A salt-free conditioner is described by companies as conditioning water rather than removing hardness. Ask the company to explain, for your test results, which type it recommends and why.
Why do some companies show no ROC number?
Because their own website publishes none, publishes a number without an ROC label, or states only that it is licensed and insured without a number. This guide shows an ROC number only where the company publishes one on its own website. Ask the company for its ROC number and verify it yourself with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
Why do some companies show no rating?
Because their own website publishes no rating figure with a review count. This guide never invents a rating and never presents a review-site figure as if it came from the company's own site. No rating means no rating was found on the company's own site, not that the company is bad.
Why do some companies show no street address?
Because their own website publishes none, or the address could not be confirmed on an opened own-site page. This guide states that plainly instead of copying an address from a directory, which may be outdated or belong to a different business with a similar name.
Why is there no fixed price in this guide?
Because only 5 of the 20 companies publish equipment, installation or service prices on their own websites, and even those prices are installed or from-prices that depend on your water conditions, home size and plumbing layout. A real price comes only after a water test and a written quote. Installed and from-prices found on company sites are quoted in the cost guide, labeled as such.
Why are financing figures not quoted as prices?
Because they describe payment terms, not equipment prices. A low monthly figure, a no-interest period or a monthly plan is financing or a subscription, and quoting it as a price would mislead.
Which companies serve Apache Junction or Gold Canyon?
Several companies name those cities as served cities on their own sites, including Phend Plumbing, which names both Apache Junction and Gold Canyon, and McCabe, State 48 Water and Clear Water Concepts, which name Apache Junction. No company headquartered in Apache Junction or Gold Canyon with a usable own water-treatment site was verified, so those cities appear here as served areas, not as company headquarters.
Should I choose the cheapest quote?
Compare itemized quotes, not headline figures. System type, size, loop work, warranty and ongoing costs (salt, filters, membrane) can all differ between quotes that look similar at first glance.
What is a service-area company?
A service-area company serves the East Valley but publishes no street address on its own site. Those companies are marked as service-area companies in this guide.
