What water treatment costs in the East Valley
There is no single published price for water treatment in this guide, because only 5 of the 20 companies publish equipment, installation or service prices on their own websites, and the other 15 publish none. Every dollar figure on this page is an installed price, a from-price or a service price found on a company's own site, labeled as such. None of them is a fixed price for every home, and none of them is a quote for your home: final prices depend on your water conditions, home size and plumbing layout, as the companies themselves state.

Published prices (labeled, not fixed prices)
- Clear Water Concepts: softeners from $1,945; whole-house filtration from $2,145; dual-stage system from $2,645. From-prices on its own product pages. A figure of $217 per month for 9 months at 0% APR on its own site is financing, not a price.
- Gilbert Water Softeners: basic systems from $1,499; most whole-house installations $1,499 to $2,850; 48k softener $1,899 installed and 64k softener $1,999 installed; whole-house carbon filter with backwash $1,599; twin-tank plus carbon combo $2,899 and $3,399 installed; Green Fusion whole-house $2,399; reverse osmosis installation from $755. Installed prices on its own site, requiring a pre-existing loop.
- Clean and Pure Water Co.: softener plus reverse osmosis maintenance package $155, taxes excluded. The package covers sanitizing, resin-bed cleaner, settings and leak check, RO filter change, TDS and pressure check and sanitizing, and it excludes the membrane. A service price, not an equipment price.
- State 48 Water: softener $1,750 (32,000 grain), $1,850 (48,000 grain) and $1,950 (64,000 grain); Whole House Combo $2,550; Large Whole House Combo $3,250; reverse osmosis Standard $775 and alkaline $850; salt-free conditioner $2,750. Fully installed prices on its own pricing page, to an existing loop; a home without a loop is quoted separately after the plumbing is seen. Salt delivery is offered as a service; per-month delivery plan figures were not confirmed on the pricing page checked and are not quoted here. Financing is offered separately on its own site and is not a price.
- Clarks Quality Water: Clarks Signature softener $1,695 (32,000 grain), $1,795 (48,000 grain) and $1,995 (64,000 grain); Evolution Stacked $1,995 and $2,195; Evolution DS side-by-side $2,695 and $3,095; reverse osmosis $695 (Signature 5-stage), $795 and $895 (alkaline); UV Viqua $1,795; granite or quartz drilling charge $150. Installed prices on its own site, to a pre-existing loop except where noted.
- Benjamin Franklin Plumbing Arizona: a $79 visit charge, waived when work is done. A service charge, not an equipment price.
- Every other company in this guide publishes no equipment, installation or service price at all. Several offer a free water test or a free estimate instead.
Financing figures are deliberately not quoted as prices: a low monthly financing mention (AquaZona), an 18-month no-interest financing mention in a testimonial (PlumbSmart), a monthly financing figure (Clear Water Concepts) and financing offered separately (State 48 Water) describe payment terms, not equipment prices. If a company gives you a figure, ask whether it is a firm written quote for your exact scope or only an estimate, and whether installation to your existing loop is included.
What drives a water treatment quote
- System type: softener, whole-home filtration, reverse osmosis, UV, a combo system, or a salt-free conditioner, which companies describe as conditioning water rather than removing hardness.
- Size and capacity: grain capacity for softeners, household size, number of bathrooms, and your water hardness and usage.
- Your water test results: hardness, total dissolved solids (TDS), chlorine and pressure, which several companies test for free.
- Plumbing layout: whether your home already has a loop (the pre-plumbed connection near the water heater or in the garage), or needs a full line installation quoted separately.
- Scope: equipment only, or equipment plus installation, drain work, electrical work, a dedicated faucet, drilling, and startup testing.
- Ongoing costs: salt, filter changes, membrane replacement, and service visits, which are separate from the installation price.
- Warranty: equipment warranty versus labor warranty, how long each lasts, and what maintenance it requires.
What a written quote should itemize
- Exact scope: system type, size and capacity, pre-filter, drain, bypass, faucet and drilling work, and warranty terms.
- How the price is calculated: what was measured in your water test, and what happens if your plumbing layout differs from what was assumed.
- Who does the work: the company's own crew or subcontractors, and what happens if conditions found during the work change the scope.
- Timeline and startup: how long installation takes, and how testing and startup are handled.
- Total price and what would change it: a missing loop, added equipment, a larger system, or extra plumbing work.
Ask every company the same questions and compare itemized quotes, not headline figures. The quote-questions checklist on the Get quotes page is built for exactly that comparison.
